Senior Portrait Photographer in Pittsburgh, September Update.

Monday, September 9th, 2013

Just a quick update with some recent senior portrait shoots. Senior season is in HIGH GEAR and I am out shooting sessions almost every day. September is full, but I do have some openings left in October.

First up Shelby. I photographed Shelby’s sister Kady 2 years ago when Shelby was a little tenth grader following us around. So great to get to know Shelby and see what a beautiful young lady she has become. LOVE, love, love the sun here. I will call 2013 the year I finally mastered sun flare.

Yes, I do photograph boys! Will the the younger sibling of previous senior portrait seniors Luke and Lainy. He wanted something “different” so we did a twilight shoot in Pittsburgh.

Angela! Wow her eyes were amazing and this girl knew how to pose. Loved her hair, her clothing. Loved everything about her shoot!

Hannah wanted studio, urban, and natural settings. I love sessions with tons of variety. She texted me pictures of her clothing selections ahead of time, and I knew the vintage suitcases would work great with her chevron dress. I am planning on purchasing this image as a HUGE canvas and hanging it in the studio.

Brittany is majorly talented. We photographed her with two different instruments, and her in ballet clothes. Love these dreamy, amazing, Disney-esque shots.

So I don’t really ride (well a little), but I am a huge horse lover. I have dying to photograph a senior with a horse. This image is pure serendipity for me. Beautiful girl. Perfect dress. Gorgeous horse. And amazing light. It makes my heart happy.

Another boy! Had to get up early for this one but I loved working with Ryan and visiting with his mom who I met last year when I photographed her older son, Cole.

Ok, I will sneak in a couple of non-seniors. Kelsey was one of my seniors 4 years ago and we got together over the summer to photograph her before law school. You can plan on seeing this one enlarged and in my senior as well.

And finally, Megan, my beautiful niece came to visit me for the entire month of July before she moved to Florida.  Of course, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to have her model for me.

Pittsburgh Photographer: Mallory, Class of 2014

Friday, August 9th, 2013

Mallory and her mom drove some distance to my studio in Butler for her senior portrait session, only to have an unexpected thunderstorm put a damper on things. After spending an hour or so shooting in the studio, we were fortunate to see the sunshine once again and moved the shoot outdoors. I always encourage my seniors to do a combination of urban and natural settings for their portraits. I love shooting in fields, but Pennsylvania tends to be really, really green in the spring and the summer. Urban settings offer such a great variety in color and texture, which really balances all of of that green.

This is the outfit she showed up in. She was NOT planning on using it for her shoot, but I thought the shorts were super cute !

Senior Portraits in Pittsburgh: Hadly, 2014

Saturday, July 27th, 2013

A few weeks ago a I shot a photo session with Hadly in Pittsburgh. Ever since my senior portrait session with Paige last year, I have been getting a lot of requests for “the bridge shot”. Please note, I only photograph people on the bridge when it is CLOSED. A lot of people have asked me how I managed to stop the traffic. Please use good sense when taking pictures!

Hadly was a lovely person, inside and out, and she had the most amazing blue eyes. It rained the entire drive to the session and I was worried we were going to have to reschedule. But the skies cleared, and while we didn’t have any sun, I was actually in love with the overcast day. As much as I love the backlighting and fun shadow play you can get on sunny days, colors tend to be more deep and vivid on overcast days.

Pittsburgh Photographer: Recent Senior Portraits

Wednesday, June 19th, 2013

It’s getting to that time of year again where I am so busy shooting I don’t have time to blog! Here are a few favorites from my recent senior portrait sessions. Hopefully, I can post more images later. Don’t forget to check out my facebook page for the most recent updates.

Brynn plans to study theater after she finishes high school. She was very expressive and was so much fun to work with!

Heather is adorable. She is also super smart. She plans to study genetics. I love learning about my seniors’ plans for the future.

Kennedy is a dancer and photographer. I’ve noticed a lot of seniors who have plans to work in the photography field book with me. I take that as a compliment! She has already shot her first wedding and plans to pursue a business degree in college, so she can run a photography business better. This is very smart thinking and a route I highly recommend.

Don’t be fooled by this serious shot of Allison. She was almost all smiles during our shoot. Allison was referred to me by one of my 2013 seniors. I hope I get a chance to post more pictures from her shoot so you can see her gorgeous red hair!

And finally Kristie, who was one of my seniors from a few years ago. She came over to the studio for a test shoot and it was wonderful to see her again. Kristie is going to be studying hair and makeup this fall and I hope she and I will be able to work together on some projects at the studio.

I’m very excited to move into this amazing space which is currently under renovation. There will be a natural light shooting area and a studio lighting shooting area. There are also several amazing outdoor urban location within a short walk of the studio. I do not have a date for my grand opening, but I am hoping for mid-May 2013.

Pittsburgh Senior Portraits, HUGE showcase of recent seniors

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

I cannot believe how long it has been since I have blogged. I have a ton of beautiful senior portraits to share. I’m going to highlight some of them in this post and hopefully, share more from their senior portrait sessions later.

First up, Anna. I had been looking for a vintage bike for a while and a few days before Anna’s shoot, my husband surprised me by bringing one home. As soon as I saw Anna’s dress, I knew it was meant to be!

Another beauty, Caroline.  I love the purple dress with her delicate coloring. So pretty!

Pittsburgh Senior Portraits

Yes, I photograph boys too! Here is Ed. Love the colors in this shot.

Pittsburgh Senior Portraits

Lauren is planning a career in fashion merchandising. She had a great sense of style and knew she wanted to use some funky, urban locations for her shoot.  I love the colors here, as well.

Pittsburgh Senior Portraits

Tracy, is a photographer. She studied in NYC over the summer and already has her own website. I was honored she asked me to shoot her senior portraits. Near the end of the shoot I had some fun playing with light.

Pittsburgh Senior Portraits

Ok, so Sarah isn’t a high school senior. She’s actually in her freshman year of college and needed some images for her modeling portfolio.  It rained the all day the day of her shoot, but we had to do it anyway as she was on a very tight deadline. We ended up having an amazing shoot and she is one of the sweetest girls I have ever worked with. I wish her the best of luck with her modeling career!

Pittsburgh Modeling Portfolio

Here’s Emily (on the left) with her older sister Hannah (right) who was one of my seniors from a few years ago. I love, love, LOVE photographing sisters. There is just something so special about that bond.

Pittsburgh Senior Portraits

We had so much fun on Taylor’s shoot! This girl just doesn’t have a bad angle. She wasn’t entirely sold on the idea of using her violin, but her mom and I convinced her to give it a try and I love the results.

Pittsburgh Senior Portraits

Finally, Alyssa. What a sweetheart. Her mom and I actually graduated from high school together and had not seen each other since. Alyssa’s eyes were mezmerizing.

Pittsburgh Senior Portraits

I have a bunch more seniors to share, but I need to get them all edited first. Be sure to check out my facebook page for the most current session updates. If you have not yet scheduled your senior portraits, there is still time for me to squeeze in a few more sessions before winter.

Molly in Studio

Thank you for a wonderful 2011!

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

It seems a little early to be posting my end of of the year slideshow, but Christmas is just around the corner. I will be closing down from Thanksgiving through New Year’s in order to spend time with my husband and three wonderful kids who sacrifice a lot for me during the busy portrait season of summer and fall. I’m looking forward to baking cookies and doing all of the traditional “mom” things. This also gives me a chance to refresh and recharge. During my winter break I put together my goals and inspirations for the coming year, and I must say, I think 2012 is going to be AMAZING.

A reminder that I will be offering studio mini sessions for seniors on January 16th 2012. Studio does NOT equal boring. It’s going to be a fun day and many local schools are closed, so check your calendars and give me a call!

Molly, Vintage Inspired Fashion Shoot

Monday, September 5th, 2011

A few months ago, I had a couple of ideas for shoots that I wanted to try out. Molly contacted me about being a model and since I had worked with her before doing senior portraits, I knew she would be perfect for what I had in mind. We put our heads together and came up with a bunch of ideas to try out! In the end, it RAINED all day the day of the shoot and we had to scrap some ideas and modify some others. Maybe it was meant to be. Molly looked so amazing with the red umbrella! Click on the thumbnails to see the images larger.

Abby, Senior Portraits, Class of 2012

So behind in my blogging! I have tons of sessions to share and I am going to try and post them all in the next few days.  First, Abby! Click on any thumbnail to see the images larger.
