Dandelion Days

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Well, the dandelions have arrived. I’ve been getting fist fulls of them daily, delivered with a kiss and “I love you, Mommy.” They sit in a glass on my kitchen windowsill, reminding me of sun and wind and my own dandelion picking days.

I had a session this past weekend with a couple of young dandelion pickers. Obviously, they found the dandelions much more interesting than me. And who could blame them?

I love this.

Class of 2009

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Believe it or not, it’s time for Class of ‘09 seniors to start thinking about Senior Portraits. Last year, I was hit by a wave of seniors in October who all needed their yearbook picture by the beginning of November. As September and October are my two busiest months of the year anyway, I would encourage anyone needing senior portraits to call me soon!

Yesterday afternoon and evening I spent several hours with this beautiful soon-to-be senior. I have what seems like a zillion images to go through and I’ve barely scratched the surface. I am going to try to post more of these later as I find time. For now, enjoy the sneak peek.

As part of my product line, I offer customized birth announcements. Several of the designs  are my own. I can also design an announcement based on something you might have in mind.

Spring for a Cure

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

I wanted to let everyone know that on Sunday, April 27 I will be participating in a fund raiser for Spring for a Cure.

Spring for a Cure benefits the Western Pa/WV chapter of the Leukemia& Lymphoma Society. You can read details on their website. I have donated a portrait session and print package which will be auctioned off at the luncheon. Perhaps if you have been considering a portrait session anyway, this would be a great way get that session and help a worthy cause at the same time.

The Faces of Bonnie Burman Photography (part of the display I will be setting up). It was so hard to pick the images.

Hardcover Books

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

I am excited to announce that I will be adding hardcover coffee table style books to my regular product line. In the past, I have sold them occasionally as a specialty item. I am still waiting on my studio samples to arrive and I will post pictures as soon as they do so you can see the cover and page style. In the meanwhile, I wanted to share a sample layout. This is for a 20 page baby book. I will be selling these in size 10×10, with the option to add on a 5×5 grandparent book of the same design.

PKS

Friday, April 4th, 2008

PKS-Photographer’s Kid Syndrome. People often say to me, “You must have amazing pictures of your kids.” Well, yes and no. I do in fact have some amazing pictures of my kids. But not as many as you might think. When your mom is a photographer, you tend get rather bored with the entire thing rather quickly. Even one year old PKs quickly learn to run away at the sight of a camera.

I try not to push my kids to be photographed if they don’t want to be. I take plenty of candid shots of them just being themselves, but I try to limit the number of actual photo sessions I do with them so I don’t wear them out. I find that if I wait it out, they often come to me and ask to be photographed.

Yesterday, I met with a couple of photographer friends for lunch. We brought the kids and my friend Amie’s little boy had a bad case of PKS. He wasn’t making eye contact for anything! But boy, was he a cutie. He had so much fun exploring down by the creek.
